The biggest astonishment of this World Cup was the elimination of the favourite, England, in the preliminary round in the matches against the USA (0:1) and against Spain (0:1). But also the new champion caused surprise: After a nerve-racking final match against the much better Brazil team, in which a draw would have been sufficient for Brazil to become champion, Uruguay, the champion of 1930, became - as Italy did it four years ago - champion for the second time in history. Third became Sweden, fourth Spain.

1950 برزیل
چهارمین دوره مسابقات جام جهانی در برزیل انجام شد . در این دوره دو تیم « اروگوئه» و « برزیل » در دیدار نهایی به مصاف هم رفتند و اروگوئه توانست تیم برزیل را در خانه ۲ بر ۱ شکست داده و برای دومین بار فاتح مسابقات جام جهانی شود . این مسابقه در روز ۱۶/۷/۱۹۵۰ در ریودوژانیرو برگزار شد . بازیکنان برزیل در این مسابقه « بابوزا ، آگوستو ، یوونال، بائر ، دانیلو ، بیگوده ، فرانسا ، زیزینهو ، آدمیر ، جایر و چیکو » بودند و بازیکنان اروگوئه نیز « ماسپولی، گونزالس ، ترجا ، گامبتا ، وارلا ، آندراده ، چیگا ، پرز ، میگوئز ، شیافینو و موران » بودند .گل های این دیدار را شیافینو و چیگا برای اروگوئه و فرانسا برای برزیل به ثمر رساندند . آقای گل این دوره از مسابقات آدمیر با ۹ گل از برزیل بود . در کل این دوره ۱۳۳۷۰۰۰ نفر از مسابقات دیدن کردند .
