For the third time the World Cup - it was the seventh - was carried out on the South-American continent, to be more precise in Chile. After 1960 the worst earthquake in the Chilean history has destroyed the whole south of the country, it has been discussed to carry out the World Cup in Europe. But the Chilean did not want to think about any plans like that one and started preparing the organisation of this football event in a very glamorous way. Perhaps especially because of that and because of some kind of solidarity this time 56 teams wanted to take part in the World Cup. The whole World Cup was stamped by a very defence playing of all teams, only few goals and unfortunately by a very brutal behaviour (its sad climax in the match Chile vs. Italy). In addition to that the worst referees of all World Cups were there. In the semi-final Brazil won against Chile (4:2) and the CSSR against Yugoslavia (3:1), at least the third place has been made secure by the host Chile in a 1:0 against Yugoslavia. Although the star of the World Cup Champion Brazil, Pel�, was not able to play any longer after an injury in the preliminary round, Brazil won the final against CSSR 3:1 and after Uruguay and Italy they were the third team that was successful in winning the World Cup for the second time.

Für, das dritte mal als die Weltschale - es war- das Siebtel - auf dem Süden-Amerikanischen Kontinent durchgeführt wurde, in Chile exakter sein. Nachdem 1960 das schlechteste Erdbeben in der chilenischen Geschichte den vollständigen Süden des Landes zerstört hat, ist es besprochen worden, um die Weltschale in Europa durchzuführen. Aber der Chilene wollte nicht an irgendwelche Pläne wie dieser und die Organisation, dieses Fußballfalls in einer sehr bezaubernden Weise vorzubereiten begonnen denken. Möglicherweise besonders wegen dessen und wegen irgendeiner Art solidarität wollten Mannschaften dieses mal 56 an der Weltschale teilnehmen. Die vollständige Weltschale wurde durch ein sehr Verteidigungspielen aller Mannschaften, nur wenige Ziele und leider durch ein sehr brutales Verhalten gestempelt (sein trauriger Höhepunkt im Gleichen Chile gegen Italien). Zusätzlich zu dem waren- die schlechtesten Referenten aller Weltschalen dort. Im halb-abschließenden Brasilien, das gegen Chile (4:2) und im CSSR gegen Jugoslawien (3:1), mindestens ist der gewonnen werden, dritte Platz sicher durch den Wirt Chile in 1:0 gegen Jugoslawien gebildet worden. Obgleich der Stern des Weltschale Meisters Brasilien, PEL?, $$$WAR nicht in der Lage, nach einer Verletzung im einleitenden Umlauf irgendwie länger zu spielen, gewann Brasilien die Endrunde gegen CSSR 3:1 und nachdem Uruguay und Italien sie die dritte Mannschaft waren, die erfolgreich war, wenn es die Weltschale für das zweite mal gewann.

اقتدار برزیل در جام 1962 شیلی با درخشش مجدد گارینشا، واوا و پله ادامه یافت. برزیل این بار از این مزیت برخوردار بود که در آمریکای جنوبی به میدان می رفت؛ جائیکه تجربه ثابت کرده تیمهای اروپایی معمولا نسبت به بازیهای داخل اروپا ضعیفتر ظاهر می شوند.56 تیم در مرحله انتخابی حضور داشتند که 16 تیم با مرحله نهایی راه یافتند. 6 تیم از آمریکای جنوبی و 10 تیم اروپایی تیم حاضر در این دوره بودند. هیچ تیمی از آفریقا و آسیا در این دوره حضور نداشت. کلمبیا و بلغارستان نخستین حضور خود را در این دوره تجربه کردند و تیمهای با تجربه ای چون ایتالیا، آرژانتین و اوروگوئه در دور مقدماتی حذف شدند.دو تیم از اروپا (یوگسلاوی و چکسلواکی) و دو تیم از آمریکای لاتین (برزیل و شیلی) به مرحله نیمه نهایی راه یافتند.چکسلواکی با نتیجه 3 بر 1 یوگسلاوی را شکست و برزیل (مدافع عنوان قهرمانی) مقابل شیلی (میزبان بازیها) قرار گرفت که این بازی با نتیجه 4 بر 2 به سود برزیل پایان یافت. در بازی فینال برزیل با نتیجه 3 بر 1 چکسلواکی را شکست داد و برای دومین دوره پیاپی به عنوان قهرمانی جام دست یافت.پله که در جام پیشین ستاره بازیها بود، در این دوره پس از اینکه در بازی دوم آسیب دید، چهار بازی دیگر را از روی نیکمت ذخیره ها دنبال کرد. او در این دوره فقط یک گل به ثمر رساند.دراژن یرکوویچ از یوگسلاوی با 6 گل زده بهترین گلزن معرفی شد.
